Public Policy

The California Child Care Coordinators Association monitors state legislation
that affects our state’s children and families.

Public Policy Committee:

A subcommittee of the CCCCA that is composed of LPC Coordinators across California that meet regularly to review, discuss, and make recommendations on issues that impact children, families, and the ECE Workforce across California. The PPC analyzes policies, considers stakeholder needs, and helps guide decision-making to ensure actions align with long-term goals and public interests. In addition, the committee created the Guiding Principles of CCCCA that outlines the Public Policy efforts that are supported by the associations. The Guided Principles are reviewed annually and serve as the Public Policy Platform for CCCCA.

California Legislative Information Website
The California Legislative Information website is the state’s public portal for tracking legislation. It provides real-time access to bill language, amendments, analyses, voting records, codes, and schedules. Users can follow a bill from introduction through the legislative process, sign up for updates, and explore statutes and regulations.

California Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO)
The Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO) is California’s non-partisan fiscal and policy advisor to the State Legislature. It reviews the Governor’s annual budget, prepares in-depth analyses, and provides objective recommendations on major state programs—including early learning and child care.

In the child care arena, the LAO examines funding proposals, evaluates the effectiveness of programs such as the California State Preschool Program (CSPP) and General Child Care, and offers guidance on issues like access, rates, and workforce needs. Its reports and testimony help lawmakers make informed decisions that shape the state’s early learning system.
